19 May 2012

The day started off pretty well.  The plan was to pass through Tipperary and then head on toward Roundwood in County Wicklow.

It didn't quite turn out that way though.  We had just passed through Mallow and had missed our turn off so we had to do a U-turn.

Oops!  The bike stalled mid turn and over we went.  Unfortunately I didn't have any thing to hang on to and met the road heavily on my right hand side.

A lovely lady who saw me laying on the road rang the Ambulance and they took me to Mallow hospital to get checked out and have some x-rays to make sure my ribs weren't broken.  They couldn't find any breaks but even now, weeks later, it certainly feels like it!

The nice Paramedic.  By this time I had crawled with help to the side of the road.

I could think of better ways to travel.  But the Ambo's were fantastic.

My entourage.

The very nice Ambo's the very worried Maurice and my feet.

So we stayed for a couple of days in Mallow until I could manage, with a lot of help from Kev & Karen, to get back on the bike.  The people in Ireland have been so lovely that staying any where isn't much of a chore.  This time it was the Roundabout Inn and it's staff who looked after us.

We did get to have a look around
Mallow.
