16 & 17 June 2012
Silverstone
MotoGP

Maurice & Kev went to qualifying yesterday and we all went to the races today.
Thankfully the weather was much better today.
The result could have been better but 2nd place for Casey Stoner is nothing to be sneezed at.
We had a really good spot in the stand near the starting grid and almost directly opposite the Repsol pit area.

Sorry about the end bit but I can't be bothered editing the video before I put it on.

Just a very small portion of the motorcycles in the bikepark.
We were very impressed with the organisation and the efficiency of the parking Marshall's.

We had to make sure they knew who we were there to see.

The shiney new building.

Maurice had to try out the zoom on his camera so he tell Rob that
it works really well.

Moto2 starting grid.

Air display.

And some of the man himself.

15 June 2012
Chapel-en-Le-Firth
to
Daventry (near Silverstone)

I almost forgot about our visit to the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, Coventry!  How could I? I mean we only looked at 800, yes 800 motorcycles.

Seriously though it is an amazing collection especially considering they lost a lot during a devastating fire a few years ago.

I think Maurice should restore one of these for me.
This is the same type of bike that he learnt to ride on.
These were my favourites.  They were built by Wilkinson the
same company that built Wilkinson Swords and Razors.

I am worried that Maurice wants to do modifications to
our side car now.

Sunday, 17 June 2012

I can't update or put any pictures from yesterday or today on yet as Maurice and Kev have gone off to Silverstone today to watch qualifying for tomorrows race.  Naturally Maurice has taken the camera.
We are all going to watch the MotoGP and hopefully I will have time to put some pictures on when we get home.

The  other Fabulous Four!

14 June 2012
Southport to Chapel-en-Le-Frith

Yet another day of beautiful amazing scenery through the Peak district.  Sorry no photo's at the moment.

But we do have one of Tez from Motor Works, who made us a great cup of tea.

We stayed at a great little pub for the night.  Unfortunately they were having staff drinks so it was a bit noisy until 3am!

13 June 2012
Liverpool

Karen was absolutely beside herself with excitement today.  She couldn't wait to get out of the Guest House and on to the train.  Why? I hear you ask.
Because of this -

and this -

That's right we did the Beatles tour.
It was fabulous.
Phil our driver was fantastic and it was extremely good value for money.
Then we caught a ferry across the Mersey.
We all had a great day going to all the well know spots and ending with drinks at the new Cavern Club.

12 June 2012
Lakes District - Southport

We moved on toward Southport which was where Kev got his bike serviced and where would could catch the train from for our day in Liverpool.
Along the way we stopped off at Blackpool where Maurice and I will go back to one day so we can stay and ride the Roller Coaster.

Blackpool tower.

Still not sure if not going on this was a good or bad thing!
Southport is a great place and despite the weather not looking the best in the photo's it was a really relaxing place to stay.
Southport pier.

If you think it looks a long way your right. And when you get to the end there still isn't any water!

However there is a good seat.

Lakes District

Me, me, me, most of today was all about me!  Those of you who know me won't find that surprising at all.  Kev & Karen didn't fancy seeing Beatrix Potter stuff so they went their own way today.  Maurice on the other hand had no choice but if you ask him he will tell you that he enjoyed it as well (unless you ask him at the pub in front of a heap of blokes then he may say differently).

We started the day at Hilltop which is the area where many of the scenes from Beatrix Potter books came from. Oh but first we had a beautiful lovely ride including the little ferry crossing.

I assume that you all know who Beatrix Potter is?
Just in case you don't she is, amongst a lot of things, the author of children's books including Peter Rabbit.  If you don't know who Peter Rabbit is I give up on you.

Me in Beatrix Potter's garden.

Me at Beatrix Potters door.

Me in her garden again.

Me at one of the location settings from her book.

Me with Mr McGregor.

 Doesn't he look happy?

Well after all that excitement we needed a cup of tea so we called into the tea rooms next door.

A lovely couple from Ridding Derbyshire took this for us.
The day actually wasn't all about me because after some more beautiful stunning scenery we some how just happened, quite by accident, surprisingly came across a motor museum.  Well of course we couldn't just ride by we had to go in!

Part of the Campbell's Bluebird exhibition.
A small part of their collection.
Maurice playing one of the old racing car arcade machines.
Seems I wasn't the only one to discover their inner child today!

After a big day out we met Kev & Karen at the The Packet Boat pub for dinner.  Ann-Marie & Eric are great hosts and we had a great night to top off a great day.
Yes more pickled eggs.
