11 & 12 August 2012
Trip to Munich & the Hofbrauhaus!

Maurice & Stefan even wore their Laderhosen.

To say that Maurice had been looking forward to going to the Hofbrauhaus would be an enormous understatement.  Thanks to Imelda & Walter, who baby-sat for the weekend, the four of us spent a great couple of days in Munich.

Some of the sights on the way to the Hofbrauhaus.
We bought a part for our V-slicer 7 years ago from this same guy
apparently he has been in the same spot for 20 years.

A close up of the Glockenspiel in the mall.

We arrived just in time for lunch & a beer!

You can't have a beer hall with out an oompa band

Blue & White oops I mean White & Blue gingham shirts for Baviaria,
Red & White gingham for Switzerland

Do you think they could look any happier!
Yes they could all it takes is a pork knuckle
and the smile gets even bigger.

After a big lunch the boys had to go and have a nap so Karin and I had to do something so we went shopping.  So after building up an appetite we headed for another Beer Garden for more food & beer. We also went back to the Hofbrauhaus for dessert and a night cap.

The next morning we went out for breakfast as we hadn't quite had enough food the day before.
Traditional Bavarian breakfast of Weisswurst  & Weis Beer in the English Garden near the lake.
Then after a short walk through the garden we ended at the Chinese tower where there just happened to be another beer garden.

Another Knuckle for lunch?
Why not!
To work off lunch we took a taxi ride around Munich to see where the Octoberfest will be held.  We were blown away by the size of the so called tents they put up and how massive the area is.  Our very informative local taxi driver explained that their population goes from around 1.4 million to over 6 million for the 17 days of the
fest.

We had a great weekend and can't wait to do it again next time.
Prost!
