19 July 2012
Bari to Capaccio (Paestrum), Italy

Well after an uneventful crossing overnight on the ferry we spent a uneventful day crossing the country from Bari to Capaccio (Paestrum).  That took up our morning and we arrived at our little gem of a hotel in time for a swim & a nap siesta.

First look at Bari.

Hotel Pace and our baby in the car park.
You can see the swimming pool through the garden.

Dubrovnik, Croatia
View from our room.

Another day of great riding from Trogir to Dubrovnik!
We have been starting early to beat some of the heat which means we get to enjoy great early coffee stops.
It also means we arrive at our destinations early enough to enjoy a swim or siesta or both.
Our accommodation in Dubrovnik was great, not because of the room (don't get me wrong it was good to) but because of the owners.  They were such nice people and we felt very much at home.

Morning coffee stop.

Some more of the Dalmatian Coast scenery.

The view from our room complete with Costa cruise ship.

Our favourite restaurant in
Dubrovnik and the view
from our table.

Our new Polish friends
Rafal & Edyta
from Belfast.
(you work it out!)

Some scenes of the old city of Dubrovnik.

The last day in Dubrovnik we were going to go up the chair lift but we did some thing much more fulfilling.  We spent several hours savouring Ana's Turkish coffee & home made cake and just enjoying the company of new friends.

With Ana & Vlaho, owners of the accommodation.

With Sarah & Denis, on holiday from Belgium.

Waiting in line to get on the ferry to Bari, Italy

Trogir, Croatia

After a relaxing day and a half, including a catch up with Kev & Karen, we caught the ferry back to the mainland and headed toward Trogir.  All the way down the coast line there are pictures waiting to be taken, it is such a great ride.

Ferry from Rab. Take a close look and you will see that the ramp isn't all the way up.  That's because the trailer at the back is sitting on it!  Safety what safety?

Our baby waiting in the shade while we have
a great breakfast.

The view from our breakfast stop.

'Loo' on a trailer (Urinal) Oops Ural sorry Kevy.

After a great breakfast stop we had to top it off with
a great lunch stop.

A common site in front of a lot of the restaurants.

Just a little of the view along the coast.

Our digs in Trogir, great apartment.

The view.

BBQ, veggie garden & the works.
Croatian buskers.

Old city of Trogir.
More yachts & restaurants than you can poke a stick at!

12 & 13 July 2012
Rab Island, Croatia

Finally a real border where they still stamp your Passports.

Finally after waiting 11 years I got to go to Croatia and down the Dalmation Coast.  It was worth the wait!
On the ferry to Rab.  Setting Zumo for the accomodation,
unfortunately it didn't help this time.

The local constabulary didn't appreciate Maurice taking this photo.

Old Port city of Rab.
Swimming again.

Our accomodation (Ville Open).

View from our appartment with our baby in the shade of
an olive tree.
Couldn't get much closer to the water to sit and have a drink.

Go figure!

10 & 11 July 2012
Portarose, Slovenia
(via the mountains of Slovenia and a little bit of Italy especially for Mick Forte)

Well today didn't start off at all well.  Our brand new tyre had lost air pressure overnight and our baby kept flashing warning lights at us.  Not happy Jan!

After a quick stop at the local servo it didn't take long to start to see some more of Austria's beautiful scenery through the clouds.

Just when we thought the roads and scenery couldn't get much more spectacular we crossed the border into Slovenia.  Wow! The road Zumo took us on was just the best.  Luckily we had topped the tyre up AGAIN.  Maurice got a work out around the bends and GoPro and the camera were working over time.  It may not have been as green and lush as Austria but it was definitely majestic.  As usual the pictures just don't do it justice.

Rugged mountains of Slovenia.

Our coffee stop in the mountains

Mountain pass strong hold,

We took a bit of a detour so we could call in to this little place in Italy.  We think the Forte family may recognise it.

Of course we stopped and had lunch & a beer.

After our little diversion we crossed back into Slovenia and headed to our next stop of Portarose.  Finally the weather was hot enough to actually go for a swim.  We didn't think much of the rocky beaches but the water was crystal clear and perfect for a cool off.

First day at the beach!

Second day at the beach!
